Proposed (As Of 9/27/05)

Among TWNA’s objectives:

    • Improve the quality of trucking journalism.
    • Continually improve relationships between the truck trade press and manufacturers and suppliers.
    • Serve as an information source and referral service for the non-truck trade media as it reports on the trucking industry.
    • Function as a watchdog over the non-truck trade media and respond to inaccurate, incorrect or biased reporting on trucking industry-related matters.
    • Promote a positive image for the trucking industry.

TWNA maintains an Industry Clearing House which serves as a central scheduling agency for truck trade press functions throughout North America. The intent is to have manufacturers and suppliers check with the Clearing House before scheduling a function or event to avoid conflicts.

TWNA sponsors an annual Technical Achievement Award which recognizes significant new products and services offered to the trucking industry. The award is presented at the American Trucking Associations’ The Maintenance Council’s March meeting.

TWNA has also published a report on its second "Press Relations and Truck Industry Journalists" survey, conducted among its working journalist members. The intent was to develop insight and information to help companies develop and maintain more successful and productive relations with the truck industry journalists.

Both the Glossary and the survey report are available free for the asking.

We hold several annual meetings: in March at the Mid-America Trucking Show, in Louisville, KY; in June at the International Trucking Show, in Las Vegas, NV; in November at the Great American Trucking Show in Dallas, TX.
